According to witnesses on the site, a woman who was apparently on board Rosen’s 39-foot MTI catamaran and received major injuries was not mentioned in a statement that the provincial police had released at the time of printing addressing further casualties or passengers. As of Saturday evening, the investigation was still underway, and the authorities had not yet released any names or other details, other than the fact that a second individual was transported to the hospital. Rosen, who is well known in the performance boat community thanks to the Aqua-Mania G3 Racing team he co-owned with Rick Merola of the New York-based full-service marine dealership, was a fun-loving gentleman who attended many poker runs up and down his home waterway as well as around the country. Kimco Steel Sales, Ltd. is located in Kingston, Ontario, and Rosen owns it. He is also well known in the performance boat community. According to Ken Lalonde, one of the event’s organizers, he was the person who contributed the most money to the annual 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Clayton, New York. In fact, he was the largest financial backer of the event. Lalonde, who stated that he found out about the accident this morning from a friend who owns a residence where the incident took place, was shocked to learn that Rosen, who was only 64 years old, had passed away.
