Joan Briggs Obituary, A Life Lived With Passion And Purpose – Death Sammy Loco, August 31, 2023 Joan Briggs Obituary, Death Cause – Shortly before 11 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to the area of eastbound US Route 50 east of Maryland Route 202 for a report of a motor vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a 1994 Toyota Camry and a 2004 Peterbilt dump truck were traveling east on Route 50 when the Toyota rear ended the dump truck. It was confirmed by personnel from emergency medical services that the passenger of the Toyota, identified as Joan Louise Briggs, 26, from Bowie, Maryland, had died at the scene of the collision, and they pronounced her to be deceased as a result of their findings. When the crash occurred, Jacob Donato Roberts, who is 25 years old and is from Bowie, Maryland, was behind the wheel of the Toyota. After his injuries were discovered, he was transferred to a nearby hospital to be treated for them. When provided medical attention at the scene of the accident, the driver of the dump truck denied the assistance that was made available to him. The investigation is being led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team, and the troopers who are assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division are assisting them with the inquiry. The findings of the investigation conducted by the Crash Team will be presented to the State’s Attorney’s Office in Prince George’s County once that investigation has been completed. Based on those findings, the State’s Attorney’s Office will then decide whether or not to file criminal charges in connection with this occurrence. During the process of closing lanes, the State Highway Administration of the Maryland Department of Transportation was able to lend a helping hand.
