Shane Degraffenreid Obituary, Death Cause – On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Kelly Rae DeGraffenreid, age 77, who resided in Monett, Missouri, passed away. He is survived by his wife Donna, whom he has been married to for 57 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and David DeSutter; his brother Jerry (Marian); brother Rick (Alexis); brother Randy (Linda); sister-in-law Brenda DeGraffenreid; sister-in-law Carolyn Burks (Gary); brother-in-law Mike Brown (Traci); and a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. His family included his parents, Charles and Dorothy DeGraffenreid, as well as his brothers, Ron and Terry DeGraffenreid, who all passed away before him.

His birthday is July 1, 1944, and he was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He spent his childhood on a farm in Bolivar, Missouri, and he received his high school diploma there in 1962. On October 4, 1964, he wed Donna, the woman he had loved his entire life. He received a Bachelor of Education degree from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar while there on a Basketball Scholarship. Southwest Baptist College is located in Bolivar. In subsequent years, he attended Drury College in Springfield, Missouri, where he received a Master of Education degree. While he was in Bolivar, he worked as a coach for the local basketball team and as a history and driver’s education teacher for a number of area schools.

He had a great time serving as a faculty sponsor for a number of different Senior Trips. While he was still residing in rural Camdenton, Missouri, he brought his career in education to a close as an assistant principal at Camdenton High School. He moved to Monett, Missouri in 1983 and began working as an insurance agent for Shelter, where he remained employed for the following 31 years. During the course of both of his careers, he became fast friends with a number of people. In their retirement years, he and Donna split their time between their house in Monett and a home in South Texas, where they took pleasure in a large number of close acquaintances and played golf nearly every day.
