His presence in the Coral Springs community from 2008 to 2014 as both Vice Mayor and Commissioner will forever be remembered, as will the indelible mark he left on our hearts and our city. During his tenure in public service, Tom Powers dedicated himself to the betterment of our community, with a steadfast commitment to education and public safety. He served on numerous Boards and Committees for the City of Coral Springs, working tirelessly to enhance the lives of our residents. In 2015, he was appointed to the Children’s Services Council of Broward County, where he continued to champion the welfare of our youth. Moreover, Tom served as the Broward Republican Party chairman since 2020, demonstrating his dedication to the principles he held dear. Tom’s journey to Coral Springs was marked by a remarkable career in law enforcement. Raised in Millbrook, NY, he embarked on a path that led him to the Arizona State Police, where he spent 21 years as a narcotics agent stationed at the Mexico border. His experiences there forged his unwavering commitment to public safety, a commitment that he brought with him to our community. In 2008, Tom made the decision to run for office in Coral Springs, a decision that would see him elected to the Coral Springs City Commission. His service was characterized by passion, dedication, and an unwavering belief in the potential of our city.
